INGREDIENTS
2 loaves of French Bread
slice each loaf into 1 1⁄2” slices
8 large eggs
3 1⁄2 cups of milk
1 cup granulated sugar, divided
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
3 teaspoons nutmeg
6 to 8 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 tablespoon butter cut into small pieces
DIRECTIONS
In a small bowl, stir together 1⁄2 cup of sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Put sliced apples in a large bowl and pour sugar mixture over apples and stir. Line a 9x13 pan with bread slices; slices should fit tightly together. In a large bowl, combine the eggs, milk, 1⁄2 cup of sugar and vanilla; whisk until blended. Pour half of the mixture over the bread slices. Next, top the bread with the apple slices. Pour the remaining egg mixture over the apples and dot with the butter pieces. Cover
with aluminum foil and refrigerate over night. Bake at 350 ̊F for one hour, uncovered.
Let casserole sit for 10 minutes before serving. Eat plain or add maple syrup for extra sweetness!
