Let's face it, this has been a tough year. From the elections to protests the news has been filled with negative headlines. Our kids have picked up on some of the anger and angst that is swirling around our nation. I can't change the channel quick enough when sweet Sophia comes running into the kitchen while I'm making dinner. With her curious nature I can't answer her questions quick enough about what is happening in the news and always try to change the subject quickly. And, Stella keeps running around shouting Trump and Hillary whenever she sees them on the TV.

With Thanksgiving fast approaching, I’m thinking about the extraordinary people in my life and I’m especially thankful for the extraordinary Cari Cook. First though, I want to share why I’m thankful for Cari. I met Cari more than 25 years ago when I was a student at Illinois State University and was President of Tri Delta. I worked for Cari as a Tri Delta field consultant, at Tri Delta’s Executive Office, and as a national volunteer. When I first moved to Texas, Cari and her husband Jim took great care of me and made me feel welcome and included. Cari has been an amazing mentor, role model, and dear friend over many, many years.  
 
For more than 24 years at Tri Delta's Executive Office, Cari served as a leader, mentor, and trailblazer for Tri Delta, inspiring countless women and helping shape the future of Tri Delta. She then had an opportunity to assess what her dreams would be in the next chapter of her life and how she would define her success.
 
I know Cari thought about if she should play it safe with a similar business job or if she should take a risk and pursue her entrepreneurial passion. I thought about how taking a turn in your career can be scary at any age and the safe path may have been more comfortable. Instead, Cari decide to blaze ahead and design her own future. She seized an opportunity to pursue her passion by combining her love of jewelry and fashion, helping others, and mentoring women by joining the Stella and Dot team.
 
Through all these years she has inspired me by her willingness to create a new path no matter the challenge, to be bold at any point in your career, and to be happy in the moment. Now, with Stella & Dot, Cari is helping me look cute! And with EVER, well you know I have four-year-old twins, she is helping me look less tired!
